CanSORT conducts large-scale, population-based survey research of cancer patients, treating physicians and oncology nurses, and decision support persons that help patients navigate through the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery process. Survey design and our conceptual models are led by the University of Michigan faculty in collaboration with key clinical leaders at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Stanford University. The study team is actively involved in survey measures development to assess a variety of constructs related to patient preferences and decision making style, fear of recurrence, and satisfaction with their medical team. They also specialize in developing and utilizing patient-reported outcomes measures. Our physician surveys measure key physician and practice factors, physician attitudes and knowledge about evaluation and treatment of cancer, and communication preferences and tendencies with patients.
