In collaboration with the cancer registries of Los Angeles County, the Detroit Metropolitan area and the states of New Jersey and Georgia, CanSORT examines the cancer diagnosis and treatment experiences of individuals of a wide variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds. CanSORT includes interviewers and survey development faculty and staff fluent in Spanish. Thus, we are able to tailor our measures and materials appropriately to assess quality of cancer care and outcomes in Latinas and Latinos. We are also focused on determining how acculturation, health literacy/numeracy, social support, and socio-demographics influence disparities in cancer care. Over nearly the past decade, CanSORT has uncovered a number of findings that indicate disparities in cancer care.
