Joan Gargaro is a Research Specialist on the Research Management Team. She has both a Master of Business Administration and recently received a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She has been a research associate with the School of Public Health’s Learning Health System for two years, CanSORT for the past year, and worked in corporate and academic research and program evaluation for over twenty years. Her work with CanSORT will encompass study coordination for Dr. Wallner’s KO7 NCI funded pilot study for a web-based breast cancer survivorship tool, support for the RO1 and U grants, and department projects and communications. Joan is an active board member for several local and national breast cancer advocacy organizations, including UM Breast Cancer Advisory Council, UM-Rogel Cancer Center Patient/Family Advisory Council (PFAC), Michigan and National Breast Cancer Coalition (MiBCC, NBCC), and Michigan Cancer Consortium (MCC). Her research interests focus on improving cancer survivorship and optimizing equitable treatment and service delivery for cancer patients and at-risk individuals.
