The study design and methods of CanSORT research are supported by expert faculty and staff from the Department of Biostatistics and Department of Medicine. They hold expertise in the areas of multi-level analyses of patient, physician, and patient support person data, hierarchical models, and imputation of missing data. The primary missions of our Research Design and Methodology Core include:

  • Collaborating with investigators to provide supervision of project analysts, advanced data management, and advanced biostatistical analyses for CanSORT research
  • Identifying and supporting further behavioral, clinical, and health systems-related translational research studies focused on measuring and improving the quality of cancer care across the continuum of care
  • Developing and evaluating statistical approaches to disentangle relationships among treatment, intermediate outcomes, and endpoints, and reducing selection bias across research projects
  • Developing effective approaches that support and enhance economies of scale as well as collaborative connections between Core D and CanSORT research, and between related cores and groups in the UM clinical research environment
