The CanSORT Communications and Dissemination Core operates in collaboration with the Center for Health Communications Research. Primary research activities include:
- development of innovative, online healthcare decision making tools in the area of breast cancer testing and treatment and colorectal cancer screening,
- testing developed tools in community-based randomized controlled trials,
- developing dissemination websites and related tools to broadcast population-based information about clinical practice norms and patient and doctor experiences along the cancer care continuum,
- demonstrating effective patient-centered communication strategies that are integral to individualized cancer care.
Our Communications Core also works in collaboration with our Administrative Core and the Public Relations Offices of affiliated clinical and research units at the University of Michigan to disseminate our research to the public and manage major media publicity that CanSORT receives. Our research has been featured by a wide variety of distinguished print and news media providers located worldwide including U.S. News & World Report, Time Magazine, and the Huffington Post. In addition, more than 300 television and radio stations across the country have featured CanSORT research including NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, and Arise News.
